???

Does anyone have any experience with liquid oxygen?

My O2 provider keeps suggesting that I might want to use liquid O2 instead of ordering tanks all the time.

My doctor says there really isn't a difference I was just wondering what blog land thinks and if you had any comments....Thanks!! :)

I used liquid O2 a little bit right before my transplant. It transported much easier (was lighter weight) and it didn't run out as quickly. The only thing I didn't like was you had to use a pulsator canula, where the oxygen came in pulses (if that makes sense). And I needed continuous oxygen coming through the entire time. Several of our CF bloggers have experience with liquid oxygen, so hopefully they will respond too.

But yea, there really is no difference other than it lasts longer if you are using it while out and about. Not sure if you have to have the pulsator on all liquid O2 tanks or not?

Loved my liquid O2 pre-tx for the same reasons as Katey. I was always out and about with Casey, and it was so easy. Closer to tx though, I needed a continuous flow, and my liquid O2 tank didn't deliver it. I'm thinking they make them now that do, or am I wrong??? I only used liquid O2 on the go.. at home I had a concentrator.

Yeah, my Inogen One had continuous flow up to five liters - but it's a concentrator in and of itself. So it weights about ten lbs (about the size of small carry on). I am using the Helios (liquid) for portable now - it's pulse, which I don't like, but much easier to get around with. My big concentrator at home is continuous.

I use the pulse regulator on my regular tanks now...so that part I wont mind and if the liquid O2 is lighter in weight that would be nice too for when I am by myself! (when Danny is with me he carries my tank sometimes if we are walking long!!)

Hi Jen, I didn't know you were a follower. I use liquid 02 now, the Helios system. They have a large contained you keep in home and the oxygen company comes to fill when you need it and theres 2 different portable units you "fill", one of which does have the continuous flow option. I think its been great. Who is your transplant coordinator at Shands?
